Space Weather Services provided by AFFECTS
AFFECTS provides the following space weather services / products:
• STAFF: the Solar Timelines viewer for AFFects developed by ROB; http://www.staff.oma.be/
• Solar Demon is developed jointly within AFFECTS and COMESEP and consists of two parts: a flare detector and a dimmings & EUV wave detector:
- The Solar Demon flare module runs in near real time on incoming SDO/AIA EUV images (both quicklook and synoptic level 1.5 FITS files) and automatically detects and characterizes flares. The event catalog now comprises the full era of AIA observations, starting in May 2010. Comprehensive output is put on the website http://solardemon.oma.be/flares.php which lists all events per month.
- The Solar Demon dimming and EUV wave module runs in near real time on incoming SDO/AIA EUV images (quicklook files) and automatically detects and characterizes dimmings and EUV waves. The event catalog now comprises the full era of AIA observations, starting in May 2010. Comprehensive output is put on the website http://solardemon.oma.be/dimmings.php which lists all events per month.
• SWACI: the SWACI-AFFECTS website describes and provides data bases used for the AFFECTS work. Moreover, it distributes new space weather products processed by the FSI (Forecast System Ionosphere) developed within AFFECTS; http://swaciwebdevelop.dlr.de/index.php?id=415
• Near Real-time Auroral Electrojet Tracker: http://fox.phys.uit.no/AFFECTS/
• Solar Wind and ap forecast plot:
Plot of last three and coming two days of solar wind and ap. The plot updates every five minutes and consists of
- coronal hole solar wind forecast (provided by Graz University; EU FP7 project COMESEP)
- ap-forecast (derived with Geomagnetic Forecast Tool from SRI NASU-NSAU)
- Quicklook ap (from GFZ Potsdam)
- ACE realtime solar wind data
- ap-estimate (derived from ACE realtime data)
- ap-estimate-forecast (derived from coronal hole solar wind speed forecast).
• D RAP (D Region Absorption Predictions) from NOAA-SWPC: Conditions in the D region of the ionosphere have a dramatic effect on high frequency (HF) communications and low frequency (LF) navigation systems. The global D Region Absorption Predictions (D-RAP) depicts the D region at high latitudes where it is driven by particles as well as low latitudes, where photons cause the prompt changes. This product merges all latitudes using appropriate displays, and is useful to customers from a broad base that includes emergency management, aviation and maritime users; http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/d-region-absorption-predictions-d-rap
• GOES Proton Flux: GOES 5-minute averaged integral proton flux (protons/cm2-s-sr) from NOAA-SWPC as measured by the SWPC primary GOES satellite for energy thresholds of >=10, >=50, and >=100 MeV. SWPC's proton event threshold is 10 protons/cm2-s-sr at >=10 MeV. Large particle fluxes have been associated with satellite single event upsets (SEUs). - L1 Solar Wind Alert: http://www.affects-fp7.eu/rssfeeds/rssfeed_sw/rssfeed_sw.xml L1 real-time ACE data solar wind alert. This RSS feed creates a new alert if at least one threshold of |B|, Bz or V is exceeded.
- L1 Kp Alert: http://www.affects-fp7.eu/rssfeeds/rssfeed_kp/rssfeed_kp.xml L1 real-time ACE data alert used for Kp prediction. This RSS feed creates a new alert if the predicted Kp value exceeds a given threshold.
- L1 Aurora Alert: http://www.affects-fp7.eu/rssfeeds/rssfeed_aurora/rssfeed_aurora.xml L1 real-time ACE data alert used for a Kp prediction with additional auroral boundary information. This RSS feed creates a new alert if the predicted Kp value exceeds a given threshold.
- L1 GNSS Alert: http://www.affects-fp7.eu/rssfeeds/rssfeed_gnss/rssfeed_gnss.xml L1 real-time ACE data alert creates a new alert if the solar wind influence on GNSS accuracy may be significant. It is derived from the estimated Kp value based on the NOAA Space Weather Scale for Geomagnetic Storms (http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/NOAAscales/).
PLEASE NOTE: When using SAFARI the rss feeds might be displayed in your MAIL account. Additionally, they are not recognised by GOOGLE CHROME.
